The Military Moms sign are a whole different thing. It is patriotic and they won't be stapled or taped on which looks like a mess and hard to clean up. They should be put up on 11th street though.

JimF,
That doesn't sound legal or prudent.
What if one of those signs that someone kicks over because you told them to do so is legally posted then your idea turns residents into criminals.
I read on a different discussion topic that you work with Tracy's troubled kids, based on your comments here you sound like one of those troubled kids.
We don't need vandalism of property because someone doesn't like something. We have a process and now we need to get the city to follow it, or for the city to publish guidelines that residents can carefully follow to help.
Does anyone know if it is legal for residents to remove a sign from city property or private property they do not own even if is illegally posted?<br><br>Post edited by: Chris Smith, at: 2008/03/02 04:21

Try me, let's see if I would be prosecuted for picking up a piece of litter on public property.
I think I am on a firm standing with a jury of my peers. If your signs are disappearing, then it is because no one wants to see them posted illegally.

Check this out first JimF for your protection. I didn't start this comment section to have people act like criminals, but to start calling in these offenses.
CITY OF TRACY web site:
Code Enforcement
The Code Enforcement Division handles the enforcement of the City's zoning regulations and building and housing codes. Complaints received are investigated for possible violations and compliance is handled first by direct person to person visit or by telephone to discuss the violations and obtain voluntary compliance. The Code Enforcement Division also works with other city departments and outside state and county agencies.
Do you have any of the following problems in your neighborhood?
* Illegal home occupations and auto repair
* Substandard housing
* Construction done without permits
* Dangerous buildings
* Illegally placed signs
* Illegal fences
If so, the City's Office of Code Enforcement can help answer questions about property maintenance and codes as well as initiate action to enforce the ordinance and codes. Call Code Enforcement at (209) 831-6400.
Garage/Yard Sales
You may hold one garage or yard sale, not to exceed three consecutive days or two consecutive weekends for a maximum of four days, within any four month period. For more information, call the City of Tracy, Department of Development and Engineering Services, at (209) 831-4600.
