I don't mind the signs, just as long as they are kept out of the walkway. Being a business owner, I have yet to put any A-frames out on the sidewalks. I do this out of respect of the law, but at the same time, I know that it would bring in way more business to our coffee shop. Code enforcement considers this a low priority unless you are the chevron at Grant Line and Naglee - who pays the $100/week fine, but the sign cost ten times that amount and brings in a ton of business for them. Ugly signs - should be a no-no. Well crafted ones, I'm ok with. They are good for hard to reach areas - like the Roasted Bean coffee shop near Uncle Credit Union and Rite Aid @ West Grant Line and Corral Hallow - Since I have no signs out, come visit us for low prices, good coffee and good food!

RoastedBean, it doesn't matter if it is a nicely handcrafted sign, a paper thin sign worth $1000. If it is illegal it shouldn't be there. It sounds like you are saying Code Enforcement is singling out the Chevron at Grantline and Naglee.

If you say you are not putting out a sign for the respect for the law I should hope so. It is like saying you wouldn't drink and drive out of respect for the law.

I now have a copy of the sign ordinance and it is long and of course, kind of hard to understand. Only 10 pages, and I have the grocery cart ordinance. I will type any info directly if any one has a question concerning these two subjects. It goes back and forth and I think I could easily make a mistake with any info I give but I will do my best.

Our friends at the Roasted Bean. The AMAZN AZZN and I enjoy our various treks to you fine establishment. We strongly appreciate as an independent barista you keep Sunday hours. Sadly, your other friends downtown do not follow suit. I can live with the Big Chain Brewers from Seattle, but AA has threatened (and when AA threatens it is a pretty much PROMISE)embargo of various desired services should I go there in lieu of local brewers. Some fights are worth forgoing
You are a bedrock of our 'hood and with the new deli, and their seven-day commitment, I hope the dawning of a new age in the downtown mentality and business climate shall develop. We need risk takers like you staying open late and often to accommodate the working stives as well as foster a whole new mise-en-scene. I be excited at the prospects but not overly as to be counting chicken droppings quite yet
For my two bucks (okay $3.60), I'd much rather see you place a sign at the corner and INCREASE your business then clutter and ugly your windows with community (and often outdated) propoganda. I strongly encourage you to designate an area within your establishment to the display of such graffiti to the benefit of the fundraisin 'munity as well as the ambiance of your abode.

IMHO

IMHO08, did you read how much the fines cost for putting a sign up. You want to bankrupt her? Stupid advice for your own selfish needs. And to advise someone to do something illegal.
