Ya knows, this thread is really starting to way too much dominate my over dominated life. So, me and the Super Dog Beaver are walking the streets of downtown this early AM. Every dang window has a sign for Relay for Life, LunaFest or some minimally important shindig at the Big Baby Bottle. And before ya take aim at my pestacios, I am not knocking RFL. It looks like a great community event. We participated last year and had a wonderful time. I have lost both friend and family to some cancer disease. But all those signs cluttering up the windows, hung helter/skelter-like with tape sprawled all over the place is just too much schutz. It is visually displeasing. Seriously, how many time do we need to be reminded of an event. Worst yet are the signs still hanging for shows or events that occurred a month past. Makes me want to do a public service and just yank the politically correct graffeti down.
The owner of Gigi's had it right. He provided a place INSIDE his business to put up signs and what not while leaving his windows to be just that--windows instead of glass bulletin boards. Then again, he's outta business. No correlation here I am sure.

IMHO

On my way to Home Depot yesterday I saw a garage sale, low and behold, by the time I came home it was over with but yet the bright pink signs were still all over the neighborhood. I only saw 4 of them but I have to go out today and out of curiosity I am wondering if the sale is still going for the die hard people looking for a bargain. I really want to see if the signs are still there, not if the sale is still going, Cypress Drive resident, please pick up your signs when it's over with. Sorry, didn't see the address.

Forgot to tell you all about the red grocery cart, tipped over on Corral Hallow and Lincoln Blvd.

maybenot, funny but me and the AMAZN AZZN were chomping on a few fish tacos near the Home D Sat as well. If I knews you were there, I would have asked you to join us.

So, during our carniverous celebration, AA points at a pizza joynt across the way and sez the owner is one of the folk on this thread. Really? I reply. Yup! He's the guy propogating stealing signs. Then her eyes get so big as to distort their naturally beautiful almond shape. Ready for this? What? He's part of a crime-fighting group as she chortles to the Gods and fish juice dribbles down her chin. This is why I love her so. NO SCHUTZ I chortle back. SCHUTZ! So as we head back to be with the Super Dog Beaver and The Wonder Kitty, she takes us on a circuitous route so to show me not one but two pizza advertising-type signs on the side walks

Not one to be a rumor monger, but is this true?
And if so, WTH????

Darn. I was driving on the other side and you know how traffic can be. Even tho those signs are illegal I wouldn't, touch em. They have been told about their signs and they think they are oh so more important then any body in that shopping mall there besides them, and you know what it would look like if all the businesses put up signs? Ya, no place to walk and then most likely violating numerous codes and one being for the inaccessibility's of the handicap to ride on the sidewalk of worse yet, to even get up on the sidewalk after crossing the street.

AMAZIN AZZN hmmm? Sounds like she knows a lot about things. Ask her whats the difference between two signs and four signs beside the obvious(two). Why so many signs?

I bet the ordinance is too easy on these guys and the DA doesn't have the will to fight them, the offenders, including the thieving grocery cart snatchers, get away with it. Something about not intending to steal the cart even tho it says it is illegal to take them right on the thing.

This is a riot, I didn't realize so many knew so much about me. I guess all publicity is good publicity.

Regarding my signs, I have reviewed city codes and believe them to be legal, as I remove them nightly. And I will not be putting pizza ads on every residential corner in Tracy.

From http://ordlink.com/codes/tracy/index.htm
10.08.4460(g)
(g) Temporary signs.
(1) Maximum height: Not to exceed the roof line of the nearest building or the building affixed to, but in no case higher than thirty (30' feet.
(2) Maximum area: 300 square feet.
(3) Calculation of area for businesses: One-half square foot of sign area for each lineal foot of building frontage of business to which the sign pertains.
(4) Permitted zones: MO, POM, CS, CBD, GHC. M-1, M-2 and HS.
(5) Sign permit needed: No.
(6) Calculation of area for nonprofit organizations: No criteria.
(7) Permitted time: Temporary signs may not be utilized for more than thirty (30) days.
(8) Exceptions: These provisions shall not apply to temporary activity signs as set forth in section 10.08.4476(d).

IMHO, I would love to meet you and AA in person to discuss our mutual interests. If you like to eat foods other than fish tacos, I would like to treat you to a 2 for 1 pizza offer tonight at my place.

Post edited by: JimF, at: 2008/03/24 04:50
