Tracy Press

Here we go again ....

Last week Tracy High had their Homecoming Week with various activities throughout the week. Monday night, the girls' powderpuff game ... we saw pics and a short write-up on Tuesday morning. Wednesday, the King/Queen announcement ... saw the pic on Thurs ... etc etc etc.

This week is WEST HIGH HOMECOMING WEEK.........

WHERE ARE THE NEWS ARTICLES ... PICTURES .... ETC ETC ETC?!

Let's forget the favoritism and give all schools their equal due!

Absolutely agree with you. Where is West Highs coverage. FYI tracy press... leadership is busy over at Tracy High right now getting ready for the rally tonight, which is at 7. Freshman footall is tomorrow at 6. Parade Friday at 3, JV game Friday at 5:15, V game Friday at 7:15. Sorry no dance . Now you have no excuses not to cover something!

Tracy high will always get more positive coverage from the Tracy Press because the press are all alumni .West High Volleyball team has been struggling not in the part of the girls on the team but other factors,but they just beat Stagg and get what a small article and Tracy high gets a big picture and a page and a half?Powder Puff?? The press was there and taking pictures but nothing?We are just not the priorities of the community right now.Thank goodness there are a few parents that pulled together a dance for the students to have fun and not be left out on the dark like at the great old Tracy High. That's what a better school in town did to their students this past friday.

I AGREE... We had Powderpuff on Monday that was A LOT of fun... My daughter played and we enjoyed cheering for her even though the Juniors lost to the Seniors in a 14 to 6 final score. The boys cheering was AWESOME... Good job guys!!! TONIGHT IS NIGHT RALLY!! This should prove to be very enjoyable!!! BUT WHERE IS THE COVERAGE!!! Can we get some pictures too????

I don't generally put my two cents into the forums, but since this is a topic near and dear to my heart, I'm diving in...

First, we are NOT all Tracy High alumni. In fact, very few of us are.

And just speaking from a sports perspective -- cos, you know, it's what I do and all -- a team that plays on the road will very rarely get a picture and a big article. Because we're biased? No, because a team on the road is covered via a phone call with the coach, and the team at home has a reporter and a photographer present.

This does go both ways, believe it or not. Last spring, I had people accusing me of being a West alum because they were unhappy with the coverage.

Here's the thing Chris. I don't think that these people are mad at the sports coverage... I actually think you do a great job. People that argue that on here are not educated on the matter. You've always tried to fairly represent both high schools well. It is things other than sports that tick most West people off on this forum it seems. The Tracy Homecoming was covered on the front page every day on the front part of the web site durring their week. Tracy High powder puff was the main picture, there was a nice article about the dancers, homecoming rally, homecoming parade and a whole piece done on if they will have parade because of the possibility of rain. Durring the West week all there was- was one picture for the king and queen and a few pictures on the parade.
Chris, this was not the sports page. I personally think you've always done a great job. You've always been polite to coaches and have done a great job not mis-quoting people.
