There seems to be so much “dissension” today that there is a core of anti-Americanism in our midsts under the guise of patriotism which is actually strung along by an intolerant left. The most unfortunate part of the whole mix is that a majority of the “movement” is a fad brought forth by commercialism and movie stars.
There seems to be a consistent typical in dictatorial and communist oppression throughout modern political history. The call for the uprising of the masses, distortion of the truth, dismiss the threat and you have a clear path for eventual one-sided takeover of absolute power. One need look further than Venezuela's beloved leader Chavez who has now turned into a dictator. Free speech is no longer allowed under their “democratic” left government.
Today there appears to be a trend towards a polarized left which is turning anti-American. A recent example of the trend is an on-line comment that, in effect, said showing respect for the American flag on Independence Day is “brain washing.” (commentary on
www.TracyPress.com editorial detailing how to show respect for the American flag on the 4th of July) Well it seems as if what was constructive dissension has now turned anti-American. One need to look no further than some of the on-line commentaries to see the attempted sell-out of Americanism and our truly free society.
Opposing political views which meet close to the center balance each other. However, it seems for some, if you have any right leanings then you are a war monger or baby killer who needs to be shut up and shut down. You hear the far left calling for fair balance in one breath and opposing views as oppressive and un-American in the other breath—the exception justified only if it is in-line with the far-left. It appears as if the far-left is against intellectual and political diversity selling the idea as a new fad—a must have i-political view that comes with your choice of matching accouterments.
The Republican and Democratic parties offer a lot to the American society and there should be a balance between the two with constructive dialog between the politician and voter.
