RGT: I think you stereotyped White Americans a little bit there. You are insinuating that White people don't know how to harvest agriculture or prune a vineyard.
Just a few weeks ago, I picked 10 pounds of grapes off of my friend's grape vines, and I am White. Ha Ha.
But seriously, when I was a teenager, I asked a grape rancher for employment picking grapes. I admit, that I didn't know what I was asking to get into; but, the rancher told me there were plenty of "wetbacks" to pick his grapes.
When I was a kid, just 8 years old, for 3 years, I helped my grandfather harvest his almonds. We did it as a family.
You can't tell me that White people won't know how to perform their agricultural labor if there are no illegal aliens.
However, if you propose to first secure the borders, and have some kind of accountability system for foreign workers, that would be acceptable to maintaining our national sovereignty.
With NAFTA haunting us, I don't think anything we are talking about will come to pass.

Post edited by: daniel, at: 2007/10/12 15:25

Stop the North American Union, and cancel America's membership in NAFTA! Educate our government representatives.

Daniel you make some good points that white people can and are willing to do farm labor. My maternal grandparents were farm laborers before the programs that brought Mexican laborers here to work the fields. My mom and her siblings did the same as kids. I have picked my share of crops as well.
How sad we have reached a point where American farmers expect and prefer to hire "wetbacks" over Americans of any race. There are many fields where Mexicans have become the preferred labor pool, not necessarily because they do the job any better but because they will work extremely long hours and not complain if the employer is being unfair to them or unrealistic in their expectations. The Landscaping/Landscape Maintenance fields are just about as bad as farm labor when it comes to a white American trying to get a job in the field.
My family has already felt NAFTA's effects. That is part of why the local sugar mill ended production in Tracy. My husband used to work there. NAFTA is not helping the United States at all as far as I can tell.

Kathy, I am learning how to use this blog column. The other day, I got a blank screen when I clicked on the link from my e-mail notification.
I just found your post about the judge that is stopping employer notifications on fraudulent Social Security notifications.
I wish I had asked you sooner: I'd like to have a link so that I could substantiate this information, and get more details on it, so that I can look like I know what I'm talking about when I confront my congressman, in about 90 minutes.
I attend Congressman McNerney's "Meet and Greets" when he comes to my area around Stockton and Lodi. In about an hour, McNerney will just be within 2 miles of my house, and you bet, I'll be there. (Addendum: It was one-on-one, so I didn't speak with him.)
On the topic of immigration, 2 months ago, I watched Congressman McNerney explain why it is that we are hopeless to the immigration situation.

Post edited by: daniel, at: 2007/10/13 03:26

Kathy, I wonder if sugar consumers are buying foreign sugar, at a reduced price.

Post edited by: daniel, at: 2007/10/13 03:25

It took some looking but I found the actual court document. Just click on the PDF link and you can view the actual document. Apparently there was supposed to have been another hearing on this October 1st but I have not heard anything more on it. http://www.cand.uscourts.gov/cand/judges.nsf/e31294092c275e5588256d480060b733/39ae3093a711d3aa8825734f00796db5?OpenDocument

Actually even before Imperial started shutting some of it's facilities down they were importing some foreign sugar, then remelting it down and processing it because it did not meet American standards for color, chrystal size, etc... So even if it is imported it was still going through some processing here. At least that which was meant to be standard white sugar anyway. There are still quite a few small American sugar companies though, many of them very regional.

Kathy, thank you. Sometimes I use references, like you gave me, so that I can have substantiation for future letters.
I'd like to ask you if you want some connections, but you seem to have your "finger on the pulse," already.
I meet with friends in Lodi to write letters to our senators and congressman, discuss the latest news about the attack on our constitution, and coordinate plans for publication of letters-to-the-editor. We discuss a lot of items that can't be found in the news, and govt/political policies.
Since you are interested in national sovereignty, I could introduce you to this "circle of friends," and I believe our content would be of interest to you.
Some of our people live around Tracy and Manteca.

Post edited by: daniel, at: 2007/10/14 01:31
