That seems to be part of the problem, but if there were no demand they wouldn't be here...kind of like the war on drugs. If there were no demand there would be no drugs right?

Well I think if we all started doing the jobs they do then there would be no jobs for them. Hmmm let's all start scrubbing toilets, mowing lawns, cleaning up trashed post party hotel rooms etc. Umm no I'll stick with law school.

Most of us are lazy or think we're too good. I fall into this category. I just got through my undergrad studies and even then I refused to take a (excuse my language) S*** job. I never worked at McDonlands ( not even in high school), I will never do your yard work (or mine), I will never wash a car in 90 degree weather, I will never clean your house, and I will never pick your veggies.

There is a man who does my yard work. An illegal? I don't know but he is a foreigner. All I know is I am pleased with his work. He is reliable, hard working, and he will work even amid the summers heat. Don't get me wrong I gave my fellow American's a chance. I thought, why keep supporting foreigners? I'll just hire someone like me. Oh god! What a mistake. Hiring a fellow American was the worst experience ever. All he did was complain. It's too hot, my back hurts, my hands are cut, I'm thristy, I don't get paid enough. Do I care?

I prefer a foreigner in this case because he does a job, well done and keeps his mouth shut.

The day we start doing these tasks for ourselves is the day we can send those illegals packing.

The moral of the story is most American's don't want to do strenuous jobs. There are jobs out there it's just that we don't want to do them.

I know I don't. We prefer to half-*** it. That is precisely why I'm in law school lol!

Many Americans do not want to do strenuous jobs but even when they do they have a difficult time getting hired. I'm sure if my son changed his name on landscaping job applications to an hispanic version of his name he would be much more likely to be considered for the job. Once when he went to apply for such a job they guy was surprised he was white. Apparently the guy paid little attention to my son's very "white bread" name and just assumed everyone applying for such work was hispanic.

As for your comment about your own landscaper, it clearly indicates you are part of the problem and don't care about the solution so long as your yard looks good. Why don't you get up off your lazy butt and work up a sweat taking care of your own yard? Or is that beneath a law student? As for your son I'm sorry that he had to experience that. I really dislike it when someone has to face discrimination or when people make stereotypes.

As for my lazy butt...well I wasn't aware that holding down a job, going to law school (a good one too and commuting there), reading a minimum of 4 hours a day, and doing volunteer work was lazy. I will try to not be so lazy and maybe I'll ditch walking my dog and try to function off of three hours of sleep instead. I refuse to neglect my priorities.

Don't be surprised that a lot of politicians went to law school.

See it all comes down to economics. Businesses / corporations want cheap labor and there are many people who will cater to to them. Politicians need campaign money. Businesses have the money to fund such campaigns. Therefore the politicians will have to keep good relations with businesses and go easy on them when they break the law. Either way when businesses are just fed up, they will simply give us Americans a boot to the side and they will outsource to a foreign country. I can name countless American based companies that have gone overseas. I recall not too long ago Hershey's closed some facilities in the states and opened a plant in Mexico. Talk about catering to foreigners. Sad but true.

We can all work for less and take a job that a thousand people are competing for, nothing wrong with that, but be prepared. Or find an alternate route. You either let the system work you or you work the system. Or I guess you can always change it but that would involve effort on all sides.

That's the point we have to be willing to make the sacrifices to force change in the system. I already avoid buying foods produced in other countries. One because I want the products to be made here and two I am tired of getting physically sick every time I buy foods made or grown in Latin America. So I don't buy them. I either find an alternative or I do without. As for outsourcing, the businesses in this country cannot outsource everything. It is up to the people of this country to take a stand and insist that legitmate citizens of this country be given first consideration for jobs. I raise my voice on the issue regularly. One way I do it is at the ballot box, by not voting for politicians who support illegal immigration.
Better to spend an hour on your own yard than to be a part of the problem of illegal immigration. You can save money on a gym membership at the same time because yard work is a great workout. Not knowing if your landscaper is illegal or not does make you a part of the problem. Given that lawyers are supposed to uphold the law it puts you in a very bad light.
