Ugly Advertising Signs & Abandon Grocery Carts 9 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 2
I am sick and tired of seeing all the A-Frame signs uglying up the greenery around town, and along the sidewalks, pink and green Heritage Furniture signs up and down all the main roads. If it isn't Heritage its another furniture store. Some of those A-Frame sign are 3 and 4 feet high. Come on now! What makes those businesses think they are more special to get free advertising? It is against city ordinances to have those signs there and it makes Tracy look trashy.

Talk about ugly, what about the abandon grocery carts. Who's responsible for keeping them off the sidewalks and streets when people steal them to take their food home in. I saw three purple ones today.

One more thing. Those of you that start having your garage sales and put 15 or 20 signs all over the place, I hope you have the decency to get them off all the poles that you put them on. Which is illegal too by the way.

Hey I thought I was the only person complaining about that!Garage sale signs definitely annoying. Free advertising for the idiots that stick those signs in the ground! really make the town look DIRTY! Our city leaders should get out of their office and look around town, not just at (pathetic)downtown!

The reason why all that stuff is not being done is because there are only two code enforcement employees for all of Tracy. They do not have enough employees for that department to keep up with all the little violations in town so if you call and complain it is the last on the list.

If everyone who is angry and frustrated with these ugly signs would get out of the car and kick one over or yank it out of the ground and deposit it in a nearby dumpster, the city would look better and they would feel better!

JimF,

I know that sounds like a great idea and of course I thought of it myself. My connection tells me that because those signs have value that it could become a problem for the person doing the throwing away. Garage sale signs however are a different thing all together. Ya, rip those off. Even take them to the police dept. and complain if there is an address on it. The right thing to do for the other signs would be to start a campaign of complaining to code enforcement. Phone 831-6404 and leave a message. The point is we do not have enough code enforcement in comparison to other cities of the same size. That is why you see all the junk around town, Garbage, tires on the sides of the road, mattresses, etc.

I would really like to hear what other people think about the signs and other eye sores. Now we have the signs going up for the military moms but I think they will look clean and sharp where as all these other ones are blowing in the wind, ugly colors and an ugly sight to see not to mention how many they put out there. Heritage is sure taking a long time going out of business. I think it is a sales tactick. And remember, this nice weather will bring out those taped on, stapled on garage sale signs, and a-frame signs anytime now.
