Justin you don't understand police procedure. That is obvious. I'm not an expert, but I and many others obviously know more about it than you do after talking with people who ARE experts. You spout off wrong information and criticize over things that you don't even try to comprehend. If a call goes out that a weapon is involved, then all available officers respond. Period. That would include officers doing routine traffic stops, writing reports, dealing with non life threatening calls. They drop what they are doing and go. They respond because situations can escalate quickly and so it's better to have all available people there rather than needing them and they are across town. This call happened to occur while there were more than usual officers in their cars and able to come. This wouldn't happen most times. Others have explained this and yet you go on with your criticism. You don't understand and don't seem to want to listen so I wonder why I'm wasting my time. Actually, you are wasting our time.

I have a suggestion for you. Either educate yourself on what is really going on in a police officers day or stop criticizing!

Exactly! We have police officers and need more, and if you think you could do a better job, get yourself over to Delta, enroll in the P.O.S.T. program, apply and step up, otherwise....shut up!

Missy,

As an EXPERT on police procedure I am sure you know the correct answer to this staffing question, but I am going to have to take a guess. I am assuming that at the time of The Shamrock incident 12 officers was pretty much all that were on duty. Having said that imagine you had a family member or friend who was raped, stabbed, shot, etc. "across town" and your police force was not strategically positioned like they should be because they were all busy overreacting to a knife call that could have been easily resolved by the 2 or 3 officers closest to that location. Would you be aggravated that the response time was significantly longer? I'm betting you probably would be. The TPD's response to The Shamrock situation was completely unnecessary and jeopardized every other area of our town. If you can't see that then obviously you are bias or just plain blind.

Justin, this comment makes more sense then what you said in the previous other comments and is closer to the truth. The other comments you made were condescending to the police. They are understaffed and the article stated that there were some that needed to learn to keep put instead.

Maybe they could manage their time better, as my brother rides a bicycle. He has gotten stopped more times in the last month on a bicycle, than he has his entire life in a car. And it's for stupid stuff, yes, it's against the law, but, is not putting BOTH feet down on a bicycle at a signal really work taking the 10-15 minutes of time that could be better spent patrolling the parks? Tracy PD needs to pick their battles in my opinion.

There is no question that TRACY PD has a nack to prosecute and charge any minority in our city. This is wrong. Check the stats. They seem to suggest that minorities have a tendancy of causing the majority of crimes in Tracy.
