I don't know the area or anybody involved. Here's my question.
Is this an area known for racing?
Is there something about the street that makes it dangerious?
What could be done to stop the accidents?

At the estimated speed the article quoted, all a helmet does is help identify the body. Harsh I know and I appologize for being so blunt. Inexperience is the greatest cause of accidents with any vehicle. I for one make it a standing rule that no one borrows my bike just because; the bike can be replaced the friend can not. I don't know him and the very sad fact is I will never have that opportunity to get to know him.

My condolences to Ben's family and friends. His sister asked "Why'd this have to happen to him?" I will tell you why. He was riding too damn fast. Kid's (16-25) think that these accidents won't happen to them, only to other people. Hate to tell them but they are the "other person" to somebody else. All of Tracy's citizens need to take part in slowing kids down and stopping them from driving/riding stupid.

Excellent rule on loaning anyone your bike! MCycles command respect which only the owner usually has.

I work in the medical field. Helmets cut down motorcycle, bicycle, etc. deaths by almost 80%.

Without helmets and safety equipment the daily death rate due to M/C accidents would be staggering.

Again.......a DOT Approved Helmet, the correct size. and worn correctly.

Post edited by: JerryE, at: 2007/10/30 13:57

Any attend all motorcycle training courses that are available. They teach how to avoid accidents, such as getting in a tight situation and focusing on a certain point, such as a curb etc... If you focus on something, invariably, your body is going to direct you there.
