The deadline to file as a candidate for the June primary ends March 12.

Locally, the June 8 ballot races for San Joaquin County will include candidates for the county assessor, clerk, auditor/controller, treasurer/tax collector, sheriff and a couple of spots on the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors.

Also on the ballot: The San Joaquin County Office of Education superintendent and all five trustees for a proposed Lammersville Unified School District.

The filing period extends to anyone interested in running for state or congressional races as well, including the local 3rd and 11th congressional districts, the 14th Senate District and the 10th, 15th and 26th Assembly districts.

Delta College seeks public input

San Joaquin Delta College will have a series of meetings to garner feedback from the public about its master plan, which helps school planners design future additions to the campus or renovate existing buildings.

The first meeting will be from 6 to 8 tonight in Room 102 at the college’s Manteca campus, 5298 Brunswick Road.

United Way kickoff mixer

The United Way Tracy Community Council will host a networking mixer from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the district office, 1875 W. Lowell Ave.

Teens invited to safety drive

The Get Real Behind the Wheel committee will host an On-Track Safe Teen Driving event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Altamont Motorsports Park, 17001 Midway Road.

Teenagers 14 and older, who are accompanied by their parents in their own cars, can practice safe driving in the pit and on the track. The Department of Motor Vehicles and local law enforcement will help with the training.

Sutter Tracy Community Hospital will open its annual Bunny Hut from March 15 to April 1 at 1420 N. Tracy Blvd.

Specialty baskets, baskets for girls, boy and adults, See’s candy and other goodies are sold at the hut. Money raised goes to fund scholarships and buy equipment for the hospital.

Kinder’s Meats will team up with nonprofit Animal Rescue of Tracy to raise money so more animals can find safe homes. From 5 to 7 p.m. April 1, the deli will donate proceeds from its sales to Animal Rescue of Tracy.
